Available Light Productions was proud to be chosen to provide the lighting and set design for the Bob Carlisle "Stories From The Heart" concert tour in 1999. Working for the tour production company, Pryor Productions, we were tasked with creating a set and lighting design that was functional, easy to set up even with volunteers, and also capable of great lighting looks. It also needed to incorporate two 9' x 12' video screens and projectors that are owned by the artist, to allow for video playback from DVD as backgrounds to some of the music.

After a few designs were in place, Chuck Pryor of Pryor Productions submitted the designs to Ray Ware Management (Bob's management company) for review. Bob and Ray played a big part in choosing the design that ended up on the tour, as did Ken Maust, the tour manager and audio engineer.

Scenic and lighting design was provided by Kirk and Carol from ALP, and the lighting equipment was supplied by Vari*Lite Production Services® in Chicago and True Light Productions from Nashville. Additional lighting control and all scenic elements were provided by ALP.

In addition to Bob Carlisle, gospel music legend Russ Taff was also on the tour, as well as newcomer Natalie Grant. The entire tour staff, including artists and crew, worked together as a team to make each performance a show to remember and enjoy. By the end of the tour, we were more of a family than a working team, and we were sad to see it end!

Bob Carlisle Pics

It was a great honor to work with Bob Carlisle again... Kirk had worked with him early in his career when Bob was singing with the Allies. Bob's voice has always been one of our favorites, and after working with him, he is one of our favorite people as well! But don't let that innocent face fool you... deep inside Bob is the heart of a practical joker... but it is a heart of Love as well!

Russ Taff Pics

Russ is a blast to work with, and also a practical jokester on par with Bob... putting the 2 of them together might not have been such a great idea to some people, but it was great fun! And just getting the honor of working with one of the industry's most well-known voices made working on this tour even better. And what a wonderful person, too!

Natalie Grant Pics

Natalie was also great fun to work with on this tour. Although she was the rose between two thorns, and relatively new to the industry, she held her own on the stage... and what a HUGE voice from such a small person! If you haven't heard Natalie's music, you don't know what you are missing. Her husband, Bernie is also a great guy (almost as nice as Natalie!) and an incredible pianist to boot (although since he's Canadian, we disagree on the pronunciation of that word!).

Is she really singing that? What an incredible voice! (24073 bytes)     I am not alone! (15499 bytes)

Bob, Russ and Natalie Pics

It can't be emphasized enough.. this tour was one of the best we've ever done. The people were great to work with, the talent was enormous, and the audiences were great as well. Here's a few more pics of the 3 artists in rehearsals and performing together for the show finale.

Wedding Pics

During the tour, we played at a church in Pensacola, Florida. Due to some errant scheduling, there was a wedding scheduled in the sanctuary at the time we were supposed to be setting up the equipment for the concert. With some creative thinking and a very gracious bride-to-be, we were able to set up part of the stage before the wedding, and we even enhanced it by lighting the set in the bride's colors and with heart patterns projected from the lighting instruments onto the screens.

The bride was very happy with the look we created for the wedding, and even asked the crew to join her for wedding pictures! Here's a few pics of what it looked like...
